Friend against friend, lover against lover, ally against ally. Conflict is coming …

Nine months have passed since Brynne Sullyan helped forge an alliance between the realms of Albia and Andaryon. A fragile peace reigns as both sides recover from the events of the previous year. Then mysterious raiders strike Andaryon villages. Attempts are made on the life of Albia’s High King. As Sullyan scrambles to find those responsible, unseen enemies threaten to pull apart everything she has worked for, including her marriage.

The alliance begins to crumble, and Sullyan finds herself caught between two monarchs: the king she’s sworn allegiance to, and the man she loves as a father. To betray either one would break her heart, but if conflict is inevitable, she must make a choice …

Review Quotes:

“Cas Peace has a most beguiling method of pulling you into this very well thought out world she has created. You simply fall in love with her characters, and then you cannot put the book down.” -P C Dodge, Amazon Reviewer.

“If you enjoy being whisked away to the realm of fantasy, I strongly suggest this unique, special read! Hands down, one of the best fantasy series I have ever read!” -Ashley L. Knight, author of FALWYN

“I have just loved this entire series. Cas Peace is a master storyteller, providing a depth and breadth of information about her worlds and their people that is just staggering. Her characters are complex and multi-dimensional, and I have very much enjoyed reading this series. I am also looking forward with great anticipation to her next novel in this series. I heartily recommend this series to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy, strong world-building and beautiful storytelling. Highly recommended!” -K. Sozaeva, Amazon Vine Voice and Top 1000 Reviewer.

Cas Peace’s Artesans of Albiatrilogy immediately sweeps you away:  the drama starts with King’s Envoy, continues unabated in King’s Champion, and climaxes in King’s Artesan, yet each volume is complete, satisfying.  The Artesan series propels you into a world so deftly written that you see, feel, touch, and even smell each twist and turn. These nesting novels are evocative, hauntingly real.  Smart.  Powerful.  Compelling.  The trilogy teems with finely drawn characters, heroes and villains and societies worth knowing; with stories so organic and yet iconic you know you’ve found another home—in Albia.

Now there’s a fourth book on Albia’s horizon:  The Challenge, also Book One in Peace’s forthcoming sub-series, the Circle of Conspiracytrilogy, proof of more Albian tales on the way.  So start reading now.  I, for one, can’t wait to find out what will happen next. -Janet Morris: The Sacred Band of Stepsons; the Dream Dancerseries; I, the Sun; Outpassage

David Vandergraff wants to be a good man. He goes to church every Sunday, keeps his lawn trim and green, and loves his wife and kids more than anything. Unfortunately, being a dark wizard isn’t a choice.

Eleven years ago, David’s secret second family went missing. When his two lost children are finally found, he learns they suffered years of unthinkable abuse. Ready to make things right, David brings the kids home even though it could mean losing the wife he can’t imagine living without.

Keeping his life together becomes harder when the new children claim to be dark wizards. David believes they use this fantasy to cope with their trauma. Until, David’s wife admits a secret of her own—she is a dark wizard too, as is David, and all of their children.

Now, David must parent two hurting children from a dark world he doesn’t understand and keep his family from falling apart. All while dealing with the realization that everyone he loves, including himself, may be evil.

Sharon Bayliss is the author of The December People Series and The Charge. When she’s not writing, she enjoys living happily-ever-after with her husband and two young sons. She can be found eating Tex-Mex on patios, wearing flip-flops, and playing in the mud (which she calls gardening). She only practices magic in emergencies.

Review:
It starts with a phone call that David Vandergraff both yearns for and at the same time does not want to happen. And then it finally happens the phone call that he has been waiting for, the one that is going to shatter not only his life but also the lives of his wife and three children. His two missing children have finally been found. Twelve years ago he cheated on his wife and had an affair with a woman named Crystal Carr. Crystal is pregnant with their second child when she and their firstborn suddenly disappears without a trace.
What follows is a story of love and redemption with some pretty interesting paranormal aspects thrown in for good measure. I normally have zero patience for men who cheat but I could not help myself for cheering the guy on, I wanted David to succeed so badly at reuniting his family and integrating his two children into his family and not become divorced from his wife.
I believe the author has a very large talent for creating her characters into people you just can’t help but love. I also love the cover art for Destruction, book one of the December People by Sharon Bayliss.

Back Cover Copy

Halle Rhoads has a terrifying gift–she can kill with the fury of the storm.

She should have known that kind of power wouldn’t go unnoticed. Thrust into a world full of dark magic with a handsome stranger who claims he can teach her, she struggles to master her abilities and stumbles onto a dangerous truth. She’s a windwalker, the chosen vessel of the ancient dragons who once ruled the world. Many will stop at nothing to possess the power in her blood, should they discover her secret. With necromancers hunting her and Halle’s closest allies guarding secrets, mastering her magic becomes a matter of necessity.

But accepting her destiny is altogether different.  For doing so means she must sacrifice everything.

Excerpt:

Halle.” Kale sighed. “We can’t have this conversation here. There’s too many ears around. Come with me, and I’ll explain in private.”

It was all I could do to not burst out with a derisive laugh. Seven years of living on the streets taught a girl that private encounters with would-be kindly strangers usually left girls dead. “Do you think I’m stupid? I’m not going anywhere with you.”

I’m afraid you don’t have much choice.” He rose to his feet, his voice strangely low and hushed.

Instinct warned me to step back as he approached. My heart kicked several beats, and I reached for the knife I usually kept in my back pocket. My fingers fumbled with the button that held the pocket closed. Before I could work it free, Kale had invaded my personal space. One large hand reached for me.

I whirled to run.

He caught me by the wrist. I skidded to a stop after less than a foot. Panic infused me, and I jerked on my arm. I couldn’t overpower this guy, not like the skinny, crack-addicted street thugs who gave me trouble now and then. Everything clicked into place in one, heart-stopping burst of reality. He had been chasing me. Now he had me. And I couldn’t get away.

I was not going to die out here in the woods, damn it!

With all my strength, I kicked my leg back, hoping to connect with some vital part of his body and he’d drop to the ground. Instead, my heel jammed into his calf, but he’d moved so close I couldn’t have possibly done him significant damage. He didn’t even let out a grunt.

Instead, he moved into me, wound both arms around my torso, and trapped my back against his chest. “Halle, be still,” he whispered, “Look.” Releasing one arm, he pointed at the hilltop in front of us.

I lifted my gaze and met the unblinking stare of two, glowing red eyes. I had to be imagining things. Or the absence of light was playing tricks on my eyes. I blinked, shook my head, and looked again.

Now, two sets stared down at us.

Kale’s hand fisted around mine. His hushed voice filled my ears. “Run!”

I stumbled as he jerked me sideways. But two steps later, I matched his ground-covering stride, my long legs an easy pairing with his. Sapling branches snapped against my shoulders, whipped alongside my cheek. I didn’t feel them.

For the first time in my life, I was afraid.

My review:

I absolutely loved Before The Storm by Claire Ashgrove. I gave this book 5 stars. How can you not fall in love with a character (and book) whose opening line is I was fourteen when I killed my father.

Halle was blessed or perhaps cursed with the power to control storms. Even seven years after the fact she does not how she killed him or what if she’s a witch or not. Halle was a pretty awesome kick ass heroine, just the way I like them. I enjoyed the fact that she stood up for herself and watched out for those around her.

Ms. Ashgrove’s characters are believable, richly detailed and you can easily immerse yourself in her word. I stayed up late into the night and read the book in one sitting because I just could not put it down. I am very eagerly anticipating the next book in her Windwalker series.

1 Excerpt

I walked through the forest for what seemed to be hours enjoying the air, the fresh smell of the oak trees and the subtle sound of a creek nearby. I couldn’t help but wonder where I was headed. Maybe it had just been so long that I’d forgotten my destination. Where was I anyway?

Suddenly, my haze lifted and it was perfectly clear.

Not more than a hundred feet in front of me I saw the unmistakable signs of the clearing ahead. Until that point, the path was barely three feet wide, not quite a trail. The trees became increasingly separated, which I hadn’t noticed until then. Up ahead, the trees were at least ten feet apart. I knew exactly what was beyond those trees. I needed to hurry, there was not enough time. There was never enough time!

As I ran to the clearing just ahead, my chest began to tighten. The heat on my skin and my shortness of breath had nothing to do with running. Deep in the pit of my stomach I knew that he was there. I knew that it was too late. The rush of adrenaline that flowed through my veins would not be enough to get me there in time.

Breaking through the trees and into the clearing, my fears were about to become my reality. I saw the unmistakable silhouette of the man that I had been looking for as long as I could remember. I ran with the hope that this time, I would catch him. This time, I would see his face and hear his voice. Finally, after all this time I caught up with him. I was about to touch his shoulder so that he would have to turn and face me, when everything went black. That’s when I heard beep, beep, beep! What was that annoying sound? Beep, beep, beep! Where was it coming from?

Beep, Beep, Beep!

The alarm clock. I hate alarm clocks. It was time to get up.

I would rather have finished my dream. For six years later the dreams had remained unchanged. I always saw the man, who I knew that I loved, but I could never see his face. How could I love someone that I’ve never met? I could not deny what I felt when I saw him. The intense emotions ignited my need, my desire, and my completeness. If I could have just seen his face, maybe I could understand what I felt for him.

AnnMarie Stone

I was born and raised in Arizona and currently live in Phoenix. The heat can be difficult during the summer, but I try my best to spend most of my time during the hottest months indoors writing. I would love to travel someday and I hope that my writing will take me many places and hopefully not just in my head. My favorite vacation spot right now is San Diego California, but my dream places to visit are all overseas. Although, since I have only seen a fraction of the United States, I would love to travel the nation someday as well. First on my bucket list however is to explore the historical landmarks in Greece and Italy, and the castles all over Europe.

Up until recently, I have spent most of my adult life in college and working in sales and customer service type positions, while also raising my two incredible kids and serving three years in the Army National Guard. Recently I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a published author and I have begun to work on my writing full time. I am currently working on my first book in an eight book series which I have titled Reborn. Writing for me has always seemed like an unattainable dream, but now I realize that some dreams are only unattainable if we do not attempt to reach them.

I completed my Master of Science in Psychology in the spring of 2013 and I have also taken some graduate courses in Ancient and Classical history. I scheduled to begin my doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) in August 2014. I believe that the knowledge I have gathered from my life experiences as well as my education has assisted me in creating some interesting and complex characters. I hope you enjoy getting to know them as much as I have.

Book review: Angel Valance by Max Devine

Synopsis:

Ineke Valence: Single mother of one. Blond. A drinker in spite of prohibition. Resident of Staten Island.

The Angel of New York: The law’s gun for hire, the one they send when the job gets too risky, a thief, or bodyguard, or murderess… A former spy of the Russian Revolution.

During the last months of the Roaring Twenties, one woman must play both roles. But when her NYPD contacts throw her a job that’s close to home, she finds the lines between the two alter-egos beginning to blur, and her daughter’s life in jeopardy. She travels to the small northern city of Rochester to crack the case before the mob cracks her identity, but what she finds will put her violent, tragic history on a more dangerous collision course with her delicately balanced present than she could ever have imagined.

My review:

Angel is the alter-ego of Ineke Valence a single mother, former spy, and equal parts bodyguard/thief/assassin/private detective. She is extremely careful to keep her real identity and daughter hidden away from the mob world that she is involved with. This story was interesting and I enjoyed the fact that it made me think. Plus I loved the fact that the last major plot twist was a big surprise to me. I hope that there will be more about Angel and her adventures in the future.

I was given a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Haunted by her Dragon Blog Tour

Dragon_FINAL_03012014_WEB
Blurb:
Life has never been easy for Dr. Samantha Malone especially since the day all those years ago that her only family were taken in a car accident. Now at almost twenty-nine years of age, with only one year of residency left, she is faced with putting her life back together once again after being kidnapped and left for dead. Had it not been for six feet two inches of walking muscle in ripped jeans and worn cowboy boots with crystal blue eyes and a cheeky grin that made her wonder what he was up to, she might never have seen the light of day. All these months later she knows he is protecting her from the shadows, never far but never seen. Why? What does he know that she does not?

There are no coincidences.

He protects her from afar, making sure the ones that dared to hurt her do not come back while he waits for the time when he can claim her as his own. Fear is not something the fierce Dragon Guardsman is used to feeling but it is something he has become accustomed to over the last seven months. Fear that he will not catch the traitor and his cohorts before they hurt those he cares most deeply for. Fear that he will not be able to protect the one the Universe made especially for him. Fear that he is not what Samantha needs but then…

The Universe does not make mistakes.

Lance has spent his long life cracking jokes and making fun of his brethren as each succumbed to the sappiness of everlasting love with the one that completes them like no other. Now the Universe is the one laughing and his fellow Guardsmen are the ones badgering him with the jokes as the mating call and his dragon push him headlong towards the one that will bring light to his soul in this life and the next. He can no longer deny that he is meant to spend the rest of his many years with Sam but his obligation to eliminate any threats to her life must come first…right? For the Guardsman who has hot-dogged his way through one hundred and twelve years, one brown-eyed curly-headed doctor will make him rethink everything he ever knew.

Fate will not be denied.

Guest Post by Julia Mills:

What inspires my writing?
Surprisingly, every day life! Even though I write Paranormal Romance I find tons of inspiration from the things I see every day. I’m a dreamer, so I may be walking the dogs and see a butterfly flitting around the yard. The butterfly is immediately a dragon, barrel-rolling over a mountain on a joyride he was forbidden to take.

About Julia Mills: Julia Mills - author_pic

I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters, a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the storied running through her brain. I read my first book, Dr Suess’ Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked. I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance. I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it. CHEERS!

1 Author Interview

What inspired you to write ‘Against The Clock’?

The need and the desire to write had been brewing for a while. I was just waiting for the right moment, the right story. This book was initially intended to be a novella, an introduction to something more.. but as the story and characters unfolded and developed, the ‘novella’ grew organically into a HUGE book, which I’ve decided to split into two. I really wanted to explore the feeling of loss, the feelings of anger and rage that surround that emptiness, and show that for some people, escape is only possible through acts they would normally see as against their moral code. We’re all familiar with people self medicating with drugs and alcohol as a means of coping, but I wanted to explore a different way with a female character that I see as being incredibly strong, yet incredibly damaged as well. And I wanted to do all that within a scenery of fast, furious and deadly action. I wanted it to be a story that moves forward with rapid speed, but that stays with the reader for long after they’ve finished reading it

Which character in your book would you say you are most like? If any.

Whoa… There’s definitely apart of me in all of the characters. So don’t peeve me off, I just might let loose with a string of kung fu super moves! I don’t have a silenced Beretta, so…

I think there’s character traits I wish I had, like Shirin’s absence of fear, and traits I don’t want to have, like Selig’s megalomaniacal tendencies. I probably relate most to Ben – an ordinary guy, in love with an extraordinary woman, and thrust into a scenario way out of his comfort zone.  I have a feeling he is a character that is going to play a more integral role in future books.

What inspired you to become a writer? The voices, images, stories in my head that I can’t get out any other way.  What are you most excited about the most for readers to experience/learn from your newest book?

I’m excited the most about sharing the thrills and heart pounding action the characters pull the reader through on their journey through the book. I just love to hear readers stories about how they couldn’t put the book down, how they sacrificed sleeping, or going out to dinner, or took a day off work, just to finish my book. It’s such an adrenalin rush for me!

Were you scared when you first published? Did you feel exposed or vulnerable?

It never really occurred to me. I was just so happy and excited to finish the book, and get it out there and share it with the world. I didn’t feel nervous or vulnerable until the first reviews started coming out. Thank goodness they were all 5 out of 5 stars!

Do you have ideas for dream cast members for your book? If I name them here, will I get to meet them?? What do you do on your down time? What do you do to relax?

I love to go rock climbing! I’m relatively new to the sport, but I’m addicted to it. It just seems like defying gravity, defying what is ‘normal’. It really is a challenge. One of the first times I went climbing was in the Blue Mountains out west of Sydney, I was about 40feet up a steep cliff face, stuck, with no idea how on earth I was going to move one more foot. I seriously thought about quitting and telling my partner to lower me down. But somehow, I found a small hand-hold and moved up. 50 more moments like that and I made it to the top of the cliff! It was the most rewarding and most exciting moment since I’d gotten married. I’m pretty keen on skydiving too! But that is an expensive way to relax…

What do you love most about being a writer/author?

I get to live out every secret desire, or impulse that I normally wouldn’t be able to. And I get to have an influence on people’s lives. I give people moments in their lives they won’t readily forget (at least I hope so).

What do you hate most about being a writer/author?

Not all my characters are nice people. Not all the things they do are things I can relate to, or agree with. I find getting into their head space very disturbing sometimes. Some days I had to drink a whole pile of scotch and watch ‘Scrubs’ a ridiculous comedy, just to get my normal head space back.

What writers/authors have inspired you? Robert Ludlum, Vince Flynn, Eric Lustbader, Dean Koontz and recently Andrew PetersonWhen you get stuck in a story, how do you get through it? Write! And keep writing! Do you listen to music when you write?Sometimes. If it’s a dramatic scene, or quiet scene I like silence. But when I’m thick in the middle of intense action I like to put some headphones on and crank the music loud! I had a lot of My Chemical Romance playing for this book. Can you write anywhere? Or do you need a specific place to write?

I can. Where I write really depends on what’s happening in my life. I started ATC writing from my car on my laptop. My wife was studying, and couldn’t drive to the college, so I would drive her there, and spend the day parked somewhere close by and write all day. It was a great way to avoid the distractions at home. And when my wife was home, I’d go out to a nearby lake, or spot in the mountains, set up a folding chair, thermos with coffee and write until the mosquitoes were bored of me, or I had the urge for a toilet that flushes. In the summer (Australian summers can be deadly hot) I’d find a nice cafe with air-conditioning, or just stay home with aircon cranked up on full.

Do you have advice for aspiring authors? Write! And keep writing!  What was the worst advice you were given in the beginning of your writing career?

I had lots of bad advice.. for example; shaping what I write to fit the latest trend, or give up on writing and get a real job and so on.. All the bad advice I can think of came from a place of insecurity and/or from a person with little or no belief in themselves or their abilities. I’m not a fan of advice. I’m more a fan of support.

What was the best advice you were given in the beginning of your writing career?

The best advice I ever got, and the only advice I ever offer, is WRITE! AND KEEP WRITING! It stands true in any situation. Whether it be a case of writers block, a bad review, lack of sales, a story that doesn’t seem to be working, not sure where the story or characters are going, self doubt… no matter what, if you keep writing you can always come back and polish what you’ve written, edit it, or even scrap it. But there’s not much you can do with nothing.

Charlie Moore

Charlie Moore was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. He started work on his first full length novel at age 18. When running through final edits for the book, he put it aside; wanting to live and experience some of the adventures his characters were thrust into. He became an accomplished martial artist, winning his first full contact fight by TKO and gaining over 30 medals before retiring from competition. He traveled the globe, got lost in dangerous parts of the world, swam with sharks, jumped out of planes, and became a Private Investigator.

Resuming his passion for writing, Charlie started ghost writing to build and harness his skill, and in mid 2012 “Against the Clock” was born.

Charlie now shares his time between rock climbing with his wife, and writing deadly action-packed thrillers.

The Souls of Rain (Heavens Trilogy, #1) by Diana Nixon

Synopsis

The secrets of the heavens had always been carefully guarded. Until one day when the angels realized that what they used to believe in was nothing but a cruel game between heaven and hell.

And Claire’s life is a part of that game too. She is a guardian angel.

She always thought that her existence was perfect. But perfection is a very relative term, and no one is protected from making mistakes.

Everything changes the moment Claire gets a new assignment. Guarding humans has never been easy, and this time won’t be an exception.
